font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.4;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Aline was born on the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of August 1909 to Arthur and Helen (Milius) Hofheimer of York, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 When she was three years old (abt 1912) her family moved to Warrenville (now called Warren), Somerset County, New Jersey.\u00a0 Her home, \u2018the Eaves\u2019 was a \u2018grand mansion\u2019 which included a lovely ballroom.\u00a0 Her father\u2019s parents, Nathan and Lena, who lived in New York City, bought about 350 acres across from their property and built another mansion which had twenty-one rooms and five baths.\u00a0 Today this edifice serves as the Warren Municipal Building.\u00a0 Her grandparents\u2019 estate included tennis courts, horse stables, a polo field, a six-hole golf course, two ponds, a carriage house, family mausoleum and a grotto.\u00a0 The landscaping was done by the noted Olmstead Brothers (Central Park, NYC and the Duke Estate, NJ).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.4;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Aline as a little girl was called by her first and second names (Aline Rhonie and\/or AlRhonie; her mother\u2019s family was of Southern derivation).\u00a0 Later, still a child, she acquired the nickname of \u2018Pat\u2019 which carried through her married years.\u00a0 However, as an adult, Aline Rhonie became her legal name and professional signature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.4;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She was born to a life of luxury and enjoyed outdoor activities, especially horseback riding.\u00a0 She was quite the equestrian, competing in many events.\u00a0 Her grandmother encouraged her to follow her artistic talents and for many years she studied with the American painter, John Sloan (1871-1951).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; Aline, at the invitation of the famous Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera, flew to Mexico City to learn the techniques to paint the fresco. She, in turn, taught him some techniques she had learned from noted painter John Sloan (tempera). She worked on the fresco mural (106\u2019 x 12.5\u2019, windows excepted) from 1935-1938. It was in two parts: Early Birds 1 and 2 and was removed when the airfield was sold and the hangar was torn down.
