She was probably born in 1797<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"1\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-1\">1<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-1\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"1\">No real source&#8211;listed by <i>FamilySearch<\/i> as 1 Aug 1797, Madison, Geauga, Ohio; perhaps calculated from the marriage record since the place is the same for both marriage and birth (although incorrect for birth\u2014Geauga county was created in 1806). <b>Loveland and Loveland, Vol. III<\/b> have her birth in 1796.<\/span> at Madison (Ohio) in the Western Reserve of Connecticut (now Lake County, Ohio) and died<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"2\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-2\">2<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-2\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"2\">Loveland, J. Levi has tax records in Ohio and his wife Esther Loveland filed for Revolutionary War Pension Payments<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"7\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-7\">7<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-7\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"7\">United States Revolutionary War Pension Payment Ledgers, 1818-1872, <i>FamilySearch<\/i> <u>https:\/\/familysearch.org\/ark:\/61903\/1:1:Q24Q-K1F5<\/u>; FHL Film 1319396.<\/span> (he was a teamster) in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County 4 Mar 1831 (his death in 1830), and was paid until her death 16 Jul 1847 at Amherst, Lorain, Ohio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.8;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Nancy Loveland appears in the Ohio tax records<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"8\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-8\">8<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-8\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"8\">Ohio, Tax Records 1800-1850\u2014seven separate citations during the time period, all in Weathersfield Twp; online at Ancestry (accessed 17 Jan 2020).<\/span> for 1832 to 1838 in Weathersfield Twp, Trumbull County (the Loveland farm was in Cuyahoga County, Ohio). Since the tax records are in her name and not her husband Chauncey\u2019s, this may mean she inherited the property from her father and there were no other sibs eligible for inheritance (hence her father must have died 1831-1832). She raised her children in Ohio\u2014first in Geauga County and then for abt five years in Lorain County with her father-in-law Levi;<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"9\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-9\">9<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000019c0000000000000000_1962-9\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"9\"><b>Life Sketch of Chauncey Loveland<\/b>. It further states that his grandfather Samuel, \u2018a Scotchman by birth,\u2019 fought in the Revolutionary War and afterward settled in the Ohio woods near the town of Painesville. Grandfather Samuel\u2019s children are named: Solomon, John, Betsey, Samuel and Sarah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.8;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Napoleon\u2019s grandfather (Samuel) left Ohio in 1825 to farm in Erie County, New York and left there for Michigan in 1831. At the end of his life he moved to Parma Township, Jackson, Michigan and died there at almost age 97 proceeded by his wife who died at 95 years. Furthermore, the grandfather is said to have settled near Painesville in northern Ohio after the war and then to have moved ultimately to Parma Township, Jackson, Michigan where he died at nearly age 96; this would be about the year 1867. His wife preceded him shortly in death at age 95. If this is correct, why are there are no records of his burial in Jackson County, Michigan? The earliest burial in the Graham Cemetery in Parma is 1844 (Chloe Graham, John\u2019s wife). It is reasonable assumption that if he died after 1844, he would have been buried in the Graham Cemetery or at least in Parma. This makes us question the mugbook report of his death in 1867. He said \u2018No, gentlemen, before I sign that paper I will die in this room and red ants will carry me out through the key hole.\u2019 He was a colonist and Stake President in the Carson Valley settlement in Nevada (then Utah). Later he was the first mayor of Brigham City, Utah (1867-1875). He had many close encounters with death including being asked by Brigham Young to troubleshoot Indian raiding of Utah emigrants on the Platte River.
