He died 30 Oct 1931 at Riehen (a district of Basel). He married probably at Basel 1894 <span style=\"color: #802003;\"><b>Emma Gabelmann<\/b><\/span>. She was born 21 May 1867, probably in Mecklenberg-Schwerin (north Germany) the daughter of Wilhelm and Henrietta Gabelmann of Tessenow. Eugen was the founder of the Swiss Sozialdemokrat party (a workers party) and was Regierungsrat (State\/cantonal minister) in Basel 1894-1896.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Tahoma'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 1.8;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The genealogical origins of Margarethe Eckerlin are shown below.
